Background
Esteban Delgado Bernal (1912-89), aka Esteban (de) Sanlúcar, born in the same year as Sabicas, was one of the best flamenco guitarists of his generation and influenced many players from the next, such as Juan Serrano and Mario Escudero.
He recorded with the top singers of his day, including Mairena, Canelejas, Antonio El Sevillano and Valderrama; but, along with many other artists (such as the aforementioned Sabicas), he fled Spain at the outset of the Civil War, establishing a good concert career in South America and finally settling in Buenos Aires.
